West Sussex Area Group 16mm

The Downsview Light Railway is a raised 32mm gauge line, it is essentially a dog bone shape, with a spur off to a terminus. It was started by installing the wooden posts around 5 years ago but it was only a couple of years back that work really started on the railway.

The construction is wooden fence posts which then have 100 x 50 wooden longitudinals with 18mm OSB screwed to the top cut to the profile the track will take the OSB then has torch on felt applied to the top. The track is then screwed down with brass screws on the outer of every 10 or so sleepers. The bends were all formed on a homemade track bender.

Currently the line is being extended to turn the terminus into another loop this will allow a longer siding area for coaching stock on visiting days.
